Didn't do anything today, just the weekly grocery shopping. Bought some raisins and dried apricots at bulk barn. Chocolate almonds are deliciously on sale at the Lakeshore Loblaw for only $0.99/lb.

I want these Rolexes, which are cross stitched by hand by a Japanese artist

They're so cool but are around $300 each. Yikes, too much for me...but I'd love to have one! though!

dim sum

(before and after)

Went out for dim sum with Nelson today. I don't think I've seen him since our last dim sum stint a few months back. Since I am incredibly lazy, we ended up at the restaurant a bit after 2PM. Late for dim sum, I know but we settled on Sky Dragon located at the top of Dragon City. The dishes were cheaper because it was later, $1.75/plate compared to the $3/plate between 1:30 PM - 4 PM. We ordered around 13 dishes and were stuffed to the max. Nothing really stood out and somethings were definitely sitting out too long, but its not bad for a quick and cheap dim sum fix. If you want freshness around the Spadina area, I recommend ROL SAN which I tried with Mandy not too long ago. The dishes are made to order compared to the push cart system (which I like and find fun).

(if I wore all these, I'd look super cheese)

Wandered around a bit and decided to take pictures of things that matched my shirt. A lot of people matched me but its awkward both ways. I want to take pictures of everyone with similar patterned shirts because the pattern is seemingly Canadian to me. Found black-red checkered vans, a hat, a bag and a scarf-casabian-blanket-thing. Saw some baby Vans and Chucks! They were too cute and about $30 each. That's close to what the regular checkered Vans are at Get Outside Shoes ($39, they take SPC!). Nelson bought a bunch of pink shirts. Giggle.

(look how cute they are!)

More walking after that...which resulted in:
Nelson: My feet are tired!
Garon: Ya? Walk it off!
Fun. You roll with me, you walk a lot. Nice!

(sad :( sack with sad gum ball tongue)

Went on to Queen and checked out random things. Found a bunch of (expensive) shirts I like but they were all short sleeved! I want long sleeved shirts! I guess it is summer-ish at random moments, but I don't like short sleeved buttoned shirts. Or pearl clasps instead of buttons. Am I picky? Anyways, remember those frozen treats that were a cross between icecream and popsicles and often came in different shapes? From what I remember, they included: baseball glove, smiley face, Spongebob and Power Rangers? They usually had gum balls as eyes/balls/round details? Well, today I saw a sad face one and thought that was kind of funny. I don't know why someone would want to eat a sad icecream. Nelson bought a green slushie. It's so tiny now, look at the regular sized straw compared to the cup!

(Krusty didn't look so scary in real life, Mr. Yeah Kou!)

Stopped by the Silver Snail to poke around at comics and random trinkets. They have so many things! I just want to sit down and stare. Fun. Found Mr. Yeah Kou! (By Mr. Clement) and Mark Ryden goods and took a look. I want one of Mr. Clement's vinyls and I always love the presentation on Ryden's goods.

That's all for today! I need a job...to pay for University ;)

free sub day

I didn't do much today so I will just rant and talk about useless crap.

Today I found a coupon in my cereal for a free sub at Quiznos, but it will expire this week! So I went downtown to claim my sub. I went to the two Quiznos on yonge (one near college and one near adelaide) but they were not 'participating' in the promotion. I knew the location in the Eaton's food court accepted them, but I don't like eating in the food-court environment. Its weird, I know..I also don't like to sit next to walls when I eat. I'm a crazy. So I got a steakhouse beef dip. It was okay. While I was eating, two tall guys with video cameras came over and asked what I first think of when they say "McDonalds." I said fastfood, what would you have said? Its whack I hope I don't end up in some Japanese McDonalds Porn.

I want the Nike+Sportsband! It does what the Nike+iPod does but does not play music for obvious reasons and is simply aesthetically pleasing. Maybe I like the design more than its purpose but the reviews have been very see-sawed. Its about $55-60, but I haven't seen it in stores yet. Me wants.

rant@school library:
I don't understand how people can bring food and drinks to the library computers. There are signs at each desk clearly stating "NO CELLPHONES, NO FOOD, NO DRINKS (INCLUDING WATER)." Wait, I'll even take a picture of it. Okay, so you're talking to someone on the cellphone in loud mandarin (is there such a thing as a dialect of Chinese that doesn't sound like you're yelling?) and you clearly do not respect the quiet aspect of a library ambiance. If this setting were to be anything like a set of an American television show, then an uptight librarian in a white blouse, a respectably coloured skirt that goes above her hips and glasses will tap you on the shoulder to give you the cold, hard "SHHHH!" you deserve. Okay, its not that bad but maybe I am jealous that I do not understand why your conversation is so laugh-out-loud funny. I only understand "MAYO...MAYO..! MAYO-AH! HA!HA!HA!" assuming the last bit is just laughter. I wish I knew mandarin or grasped Cantonese better to top their conversations.

Occasionally, I would spend countless hours in front of one of these computer terminal cubicles studying or scanning useless Japanese band photos with plans to gain internet points (85% of the stuff I scan never leave the computer because I am so damn lazy). Like a human, I would get thirsty and occasionally take sips from my bottle of water in great fear and suspicion. Many times I actually walk away from my station to only spend a few seconds drinking in the lobby in fears that my computer might be stolen by someone. But that's okay, right? It's bottled and I quickly shove it back into my bag anyways, but you...YOU are drinking BUBBLE TEA. It looks like a simulated mango flavour, extra large bubble tea. Whaaaat? Not only is it uncapped but you just leave it where it could easily be knocked over and if that did happen, you'd probably just walk away. Not to mention you're at the digital media computers! You're on the only handful of computers that are loaded with programs like photoshop and that come equipped with scanners and YOU'RE ON FACEBOOK PLAYING GAMES WHILE DRINKING YOUR BUBBLE TEA.

okay.
blog edits:
a bunch of people are complaining about not remembering what my blog is about when they go to comment (it sure says a lot about my blogs, though! haaaa) so I made them pop up. In the old commenting system (but not in the new) you can click the "view original post" to drop down the actual blog post. Yey.

free burger day

Yesterday was free burger day at Harvey's and Shirley and I went for our burger! Met a semi friendly but very itchy cat on the way. Cats on Shirley's street are usually a lot more friendly it seems. A lot more itchy than I remember it, too! We went to the location near the beaches and probably spent 1 minute in line. It was awesome. The burger tasted so much better than what I usually get at Harvey's. They say it tastes better when its free. It was probably because they had to continuously chuck out the burgers. Kind of ironic in the sense that this makes the 'sample burger' taste better than what it usually would be. They had dozens lined up when we got there and the service was fast! Everyone was very friendly too, a little bit too friendly if I may say. Forcibly friendly, even...but I guess fake friendly is always better than real annoyance (?). It would be nice if Harvey's is able to win over purchase loyalty in the oversaturated business of fastfood. I mean, we have Wendy's, Burger King and the McDonalds and I would say BK and McD would be the most populous around here!

After enjoying our delicious burgers, we headed downtown. We stopped by St. Lawrence Market and they had a sketchy open market. Lots of random old goods and oddly enough, Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags? There was a random table in the middle of the place that had a SNES for $60 and a bunch of comic books and records. Lots of interesting things to be seen but they were closing when we arrived. Pictures: Snoopy phone, pies 50% tarts!, old Christian pendants, Russian dolls and creep doll heads. Creeepy.

I like the new Coldplay song, which is also being used for an iTunes ad featuring the band themselves. Pretty flashy like the mac wallpapers! The song is nice, I like the instrumentals.

stupid raccoons and other stuff

Today I woke up to a scattering mess in my backyard. The stupid raccoons were at it again, pushing over our garbage cans and such. More specifically, the horribly designed green bins. Their tactic is to knock over the green bins as the clasp opens up once they hit the ground. They then grab out all the garbage with their grubby paws and gnaw through the bags, spreading crap all over. It was disgusting as the day before we made chicken broth, so there were bones all over. I wouldn't have noticed if it were not for the flock of birds that were pecking at the left overs. I encountered another one weeks ago and they're barely afraid of humans anymore! Shaking a bat at it proved to be useless. I need to get one of those raccoon clasps

Didn't do much today. Met up with Sammy. Yelled at him and watched people play Wii Fit. I think its sold out in most places. I was told the parents of some girl sued because the game called her fat. Seriously? Bah! I want to play rockband on the Wii, someone get it! Or if you already have it, tell me and let me come over!

Got into an argument with my father again. It wasn't really an argument other than the fact that I was angry and loud as most of it was just pent-up rage from when he was an ass during exams. He's unnecessary a lot of times.

samantha's birthday

So, Sam's birthday was on the 9th but I didn't get a chance to upload pictures until now. It was actually the last few hours of the 9th when Sam called me (I was eating baby carrots in the living room) to tell me she was coming over with cake and sparklers! She brought delicious raspberry cheese cake, sake and extra long sparklers. The results were general silliness. Click on the image to see an animation of me going crazy with sparkles. Fun.

Mandy says:
i'm sad
garon says:
is it because you cant get hookers
Mandy says:
yes
Mandy says:
it's supposed to be easy

Mandy is funnier out of context, but still funny nonetheless.
We were talking about Grand Theft Auto.
